Roman Hippocampus Brooch

This brooch was found in England in 2016. The Hippocampus brooch, reflects a horse//fish creature. The brooch unfortunately is incomplete. It is made of Roman copper alloy. It dates back too second century AD.

A groat is a fourpence coin. These coins are commonly known as a Maundy coin although it is probable that only the penny denomination was used in the Maundy ceremony at that time.
